YAY for family pictures!!!
It’s the one time during the year we want our husband’s and children to look at the camera and smile while wearing the cute outfits we picked for everyone!! Am I right??
Since that first part is stressful enough, I rounded up outfit ideas for the entire family. Coordinating outfits can be tricky when you’re mixing prints, patterns and several different colors.
I mean, I think we’ve all been there. You know, when you’re standing in a store looking down at something and wondering if it will match and look as nice as the Pinterest picture we’ve been obsessing over we love.
Earthy, warm tones are the colors I like to stick with for Fall family pictures. It reminds me of the changing of the leaves, the dark blue sky and the beautiful brown pinecones and acorns during Autumn.
TIP:
Stick to one, maybe two prints when coordinating outfits. Too many can be overwhelming and that will be the only thing standing out in the pictures, not your beautiful kiddos.
It’s always safe to dress your husband and boys, if you have them, in solid colors and let the girls or yourself wear the dominant color.
Lastly, use props that bring out the dominant color you plan to wear so the outfit will really pop.
Here’s an example of our family pictures in 2019. We had them taken in December and I was going for a holiday style that would look nice on our Christmas cards.
Breaking the colors down and how they tie together….
I wore a burgundy red skirt while the boys stayed in neutral colors.
The red in Ryan’s sweater matched the skirt. The khaki pants Ryan is wearing matched the camel elbow patches on Trey and Ryder’s sweaters along with their shoes. Trey wore a navy sweater and Ryder had on dark denim. Lastly, the cream sweater Ryder is wearing pulls nicely with the grey sweater I’m wearing and Trey’s undershirt.
WHEW!!! That was a lot.
Now let’s get to this years colors!!
