A weekend getaway for the books…

Good Morning, friends!
Earlier this month Trey and I snuck away for a weekend getaway, and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! My parent’s flew in from out of town and stayed with the boys, which meant three wonderful days to ourselves.

Our families don’t live nearby and aren’t familiar with the local area. So instead of sending them to an unfamiliar grocery store, I ordered the everyday essentials for them online… with my Walmart+ membership to the rescue.

If you aren’t familiar with the membership, I’ve included a list of benefits below and how they helped me prepare before leaving.
Check out my tips and five things to do before leaving on a weekend getaway.

  1. BUY THE GROCERIES!!

No matter how much meal prep I do for school lunches or how many dinner ideas I leave, the boys always seem to want more food.

The Walmart+ membership makes it so easy to buy groceries online!
The benefit I love the most is free same-day delivery from your local store on groceries and more. ($35 order minimum. Restrictions apply.)
The quality of the groceries is always amazing and freshly picked just as if I were shopping in store myself. Plus when it’s time to checkout, there aren’t any added costs or hidden fees on my receipt and the prices are the same as in-store.

2. Prep School Lunches

I typically prepare Ryder’s school lunches the night prior; he helps me decide what to pack. A few of his favorites: fresh pepper slices, pineapple, watermelon, baby tomatoes and… drumroll… pickles!!

It’s important that the quality of produce I buy is the best. All of the fruits and vegetables are always fresh and taste delicious.

3. Have Snacks on Hand

Like I said, kid’s (husbands included!) never stop eating. If yours are anything like mine, they never stop asking for a snack. I get all of their favorites along with ready to bake chocolate chip cookies so they can do something fun with grandma and grandpa.

Having the Walmart+ membership truly takes the hassle out of shopping for groceries and leaves me with more time to do other things.
(Hassle here is defined as: me not losing my mind on the “cookie” and “cracker” aisle because they keep asking for one of everything.)

4. Leave a List of Meals or Snack Ideas

Whether you have a picky eater or grandparents who are only visiting and aren’t familiar with everyones likes and dislikes, leaving a few ideas really helps. I ordered all of the ingredients with my Walmart+ membership free delivery order and left a list of simple meal ideas along with snacks they love.

5. Get the Grandparents Something – (they are going to need it)

First things first, COFFEE!!
Walmart‘s bakery always has delicious pastries that are freshly baked and ready to eat. I grabbed these glazed cinnamon buns to enjoy over coffee in the morning and they loved them.

When we came back home everyone was happy with lots of stories to tell, the boys were spoiled with sweets and my parents enjoyed making memories!
